Jungian philosophy, Louisiana culture and folklore are subjects that contribute to the themes of my pieces. These subjects help me explore the psyche, and the subconscious which is the focus of all of my art. I’ve found that I have a need to place objects within paintings that mean something to me. These objects are symbolic, and are connected to nature. I develop scenarios that progress and take on new meaning, like a watercolor eventually becoming three dimensional. Lately, I have been exploring textures. Obsessing over the red clay that is found here in Louisiana, and creating clay pigments. I am currently using paper to create objects. Paper and clay are connected to the earth. They provide a medium, create a surface, contribute to the form, and shape of an object and my paintings.
