In the event of an emergency

Grab pen and paper

Then run

Run as fast as you can

Until you find shelter

Under a tree

Behind an old ragged building

At the meeting of a bank and river

Underneath old bridge

Or any other pocket of peace that nature has to offer

And write

Write as if the flow of your words are to extinguish a burning soul

Capture this accident in stanzas to relieve your crowded mind

Separate your thoughts and spill sonnets that your tongue is too weak to speak

And let your poem be an ocean

Set sail

And drift a while

Take full notice of your emotions as they rise and sink

Write

Your life depends on it

Soon you’ll arrive to a deserted island

Stay there

And always remember

In the event of an emergency

Write a poem
