Fragments of the March

Please don't mistake grace for weakness;

if I wanted you to touch me, boy, I'd let you know,

but now you're messin’, messin’ with the wrong girl.

Please believe, I have my reasons.

I don't need a man to lead me to the righteous path,

to each his own but I prefer to walk alone.

In the name of divine oppression, would you sacrifice your shiny shoes

to walk upon the backs of us who dignify the right to choose?

Pardon me for leaving so soon but I'd rather take a flying leap

than listen to your thinly veiled allusions of morality.

But, If all of the world would sing with one voice

I believe that we could break open the sky,

and you must forgive, forgive others for their choices

but after you do, your mind will be able to fly.

If you will lay down all your arms

and shrug off the skin of your hatred

this battle will end and we will know,

our brothers are found ignoring the difference our eyes see;

I look with my heart, I see your soul.

Pardon me for leaving so soon but I'd rather take a flying leap, yeah I’d rather take a flying leap.

But, If all of the world would sing with one voice

I believe that we could break open the sky,

and you must forgive, forgive others for their choices

but after you do, your mind will be able to fly

If you will lay down all your arms

and shrug off the skin of your hatred

this battle will end and we will know,

our brothers are found ignoring the difference our eyes see;

I look with my heart, I see your soul.
