    Artist Statement
    Bonnie Kirkley

I believe the desire to create is an innate quality of human beings. Art has been an effective form of expression and a means of understanding my own nature. Currently using my camera for reference photos and my imagination, I am on a quest to capture all 64 parishes in a series I am calling Louisiana Values. My method is shooting the images in black and white, to capture the “values”, and then using my instincts for color and my emotional connection to interpret the scene in paint.
