Adena Helm graduated from Athens State University, Athens AL, with a degree in Studio Art with a minor in music. As a child, book illustrations sparked her desire to draw and this has continued to be a central element of the artworks she creates today. Adena has participated in various group shows throughout the South and currently has a painting in the Shreveport Regional Airport Art Exhibit, Flying Colours, Artport 2015. She is an active member of several art organizations such as the Shreveport Art Club and the Creative Art Connection and has received awards for works featured in their annual juried shows. Adena is an art retreat junkie and loves to continue learning and trying new techniques. She lives in Benton, LA with her husband David and a yard full of pets.

Vibrant color and simplicity are the main components of the portraits I love to create. My portfolio consist of images one might find in their very own scrapbook: memories, stories of adventure and perfect days. Acrylic paint and collage elements help me capture these moments in the faces of my subjects. Life is quite and experiment and so is art!
