About Artist

Basic Information

  • Artist Statement

Three years ago my husband and I moved from Portland,OR to Shreveport to be near family. Our careers in industrial construction allowed us to travel the United States, Canada and Mexico. I am now retired.
I have always been drawn to artists and creative people. My oldest daughter was the one to encourage me to put paint to canvas and I have never looked back.
With no formal training, I have been fortunate to have had the support and mentoring from her and several other local artists. As one artist told me- "just keep slinging paint."
Using acrylics, I incorporate my own mono prints with recycled materials, layering color and texture. Never knowing where the canvas will take me, it always seems to include happy, funky, grunge and surprise. I love it!!
I am always inspired by Andy Warhol's quote:
"Don't think about making art. Just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad. Whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make more art."
