About Artist

Basic Information

  • Artist Statement

The essence of my art practice is “mad scientist” mode - experimenting with materials and processes. Quite often the materials talk to me, from tire tread and crushed metal calling to me from the side of the road, to the beauty of colorful resin and aged wood items. Processes are equally enticing. I am inspired by welding, cutting and bending metal, finding ways to texture and transform resin, and figuring out how to connect very different materials. With these materials and processes, I choose a theme for a series. I am currently working on a series based on Louisiana geography. It is titled Half Way Between Eunice and Mamou, a jolly phrase I heard from a Cajun Band in the French Quarter. I get bored doing the same thing for too long, so I am also working on a series called Ping. It takes various people, places, materials and ideas as points to ping off of for new art works.
