About Artist

Basic Information

  • Artist Statement

Patterns and textures in nature and gnarly, crooked trees lead me to the art I produce. For me, being outdoors and in nature is like coming home - peaceful, restorative and freeing. I am fascinated by the constant changes, from the new growth of Spring to natural decay, the earth reclaiming its own. Searching for anomalies in nature and investigating them through my work fulfills me. My artistic explorations include the use of layering, color, and texture to focus on these natural patterns. In mediums of acrylic, oil, charcoal and photography I render both realistic and abstracted pieces. Natural texture, trees and the human form are the authentic, unifying elements in my work and when I diverge from these they simply ease back in. As it nurtures me, I hope my work will have the same peaceful, freeing affect on the viewers.

"Our task must be to free ourselves ...
by widening our circle of compassion
to embrace all living creatures and
the whole of nature and its beauty.”
    Albert Einstein
